MAE (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the MAE app on Android or iPhone.
1. Information We Collect (or actually, don’t collect)
MAE does not collect or transmit any personal information to our servers. MAE has no account and no server. Everything you enter, including profiles, allergies, reactions and notes, is stored locally on your device, or in your own cloud storage (Google Drive) if you turn on Cloud Sync. We do not have access to this data.
2. Services MAE Uses
Some features use outside services, which have their own privacy policies:
- Lookups: medication, recall and product lookups send only the search term, such as an NDC number or a barcode, to public databases.
- Ads: the free version shows ads from Google AdMob. Google may collect device identifiers, approximate location and ad interaction data. MAE asks for your consent where the law requires it. Premium removes ads.
- Purchases: subscriptions are handled by Google Play or the Apple App Store.
- Cloud Sync (Premium): uses your Google account and your Google Drive.
- App stores: Google and Apple may collect install, crash and usage data under their own policies.
MAE does not send your profiles, allergies or reactions to any of these services.
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade any personal data. Your data is shared with others only if you choose to share it using the app’s share features.
4. Permissions
MAE may ask for:
- Camera: to scan labels and barcodes.
- Photos: to use photos you choose.
- Notifications: for recall and expiration reminders.
MAE does not ask for your location.
5. Your Choices
You can change or delete your data at any time in the app, in your Google Drive, or by deleting the app. You can change your ad preferences in the app settings.
6. Children’s Privacy
MAE is not intended for children under 13 without parental supervision. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be clearly communicated through the app or official update notes.
