Barnivore Lookup Feature
The Barnivore lookup helps users determine whether alcoholic beverages are vegan-friendly. It queries Barnivore’s online database using a search term or text captured from a label. Results open directly in the user’s web browser.
How It Works
- Enter or capture a search term – Users type a beverage name or scan it using the camera. The OCR text is inserted into the search field.
- Perform the search – The app builds a Barnivore search URL and launches it in the browser.
- History and editing – Previous queries appear below the search box. Swipe to delete or long‑press to edit an entry.
- Info pop‑up – Tap the toolbar title to view Barnivore’s description and a link to its site. The dialog uses a shared layout with a close “X” in the title bar.
Privacy
Searches are sent directly to Barnivore. No personal information is transmitted; only the query text is stored locally for history.
NDC Lookup Feature
The NDC (National Drug Code) lookup lets users retrieve drug ingredient information directly from DailyMed. The feature normalizes any user supplied NDC to the standard 11‑digit form before searching DailyMed. Once a matching Product Label) is found, the product name and lists of active and inactive ingredients are displayed in a popup dialog.
The popup dialog uses the product name as the title and lists the active and inactive ingredients with allergens highlighted in red. A Find Alternative button lets users search DailyMed for formulations that contain a particular active ingredient while excluding an undesired one.
